JOSEPH CONRAD’S THE SECRET AGENT

Written & produced by Jennifer Porteous and Jon Armstrong (Simply Told)
Produced by Rolemop Arts, in association with Greenwich Theatre and Guildford’s Yvonne Arnaud Theatre.
Supported by Arts Council England, The Joseph Conrad Society and Brighton & Hove Council.
At the turn of the twentieth century the world is gripped by a new type of terror. In the foggy backstreets of London, Adolf Verloc is forced into organising an atrocity, with unimaginable consequences for both English justice and for his family.
Loosely based on the true events surrounding an attempt to blow up Greenwich Observatory in 1894, this explosive adaptation of Conrad’s novel is the darkly comic account of a family torn apart by terrorism, treachery and the politics of war.
Reviews:
“The production brilliantly captures the complicity and mutual dependence upon which these characters base their existence” - The Brighton Argus
“Technically slick and effortlessly professional” - The Wharf London
“Entertaining and thought-provoking” - Daily Info Oxford
(Joseph Conrad’s The Secret Agent, written & produced by Jon Armstrong & Jennifer Porteous)
Autumn 2001
MERCIER AND CAMIER

by Samuel Beckett
Produced by Asylum Theatre Company
Produced & Performed by Jon Armstrong (Simply Told) and Nigel Roper
Supported by Arts Council England and The Foxrock Foundation
The darkly amusing tale of the quest of two old men in which they meet many unsavoury characters, relieve indolence and boredom with acts of gratuitous sex and violence and see signs full of portent but empty of meaning.
Reviews:
‘Stylish, keyed-in and stoic” - The Reading Evening Chronicle
(Samuel Beckett’s Mercier & Camier)
